Lately I have been drawn to larger surfaces to play with color on. It has allowed me to play with multiple colors and create patterns and effects with enamel in its powder form. After firing these pieces and allowing them to cool I get to see the results and so far I am loving them.
My new series is inspired by graffiti spray. They are drippy, linear, speckled, all somewhat unpredictable, like paint in the wind. The colors are inspired by long walks in the city, observing what’s growing in flower boxes, the color of the water under the bridge full of tags, brightly painted doors and shutters and weeds growing in the cracks of the cement.
This pendant is 3/4” round and hangs on a 20 inch chain which closes with a handmade clasp. The pendant’s surface is covered with raven, a deep grey which allows the spray to pop. One necklace has sea foam and marigold, while the other has sea foam and poppy. The back of the pendants have a satin silver finish.
